Let’s be honest, as fashion aficionados we agree that a blazer is a significant wardrobe investment. It is simply a striking balance between a smart and casual look. However the one issue is knowing the right cut, finish, material and structure that brings it all together. This week I’m featuring a jacket most people will consider semi-formal, so what exactly is an unstructured blazer? It is simply a more relaxed blazer with the typical padding and inner linings removed to give it that softer appearance. The textured jacket shown here is a Wool/Silk blend cut from the mills of Vitale Barberis Canonico, one of the oldest and finest fabric makers around today. It features absolutely no shoulder padding, patch pockets and working cuffs. If you stay in a warmer climate and have a need to throw on a jacket rather than a full suit, this can come very handy gents.
